I care for a maximum of 4 children at a time in a clean, safe and nurturing environment. I strive to provide infants and toddlers with a positive learning environment, a place they feel safe and cared for, while striving to make each day, “The best day ever!” The early years of a child’s life are busy. I believe learning is constantly happening all of the time and is interwoven through all developmental domains. These include physical, social/emotional, cognitive and communication. The goal of my program is to make this ongoing learning experience safe, positive and fun, nurturing the whole child as I guide them into the next stages of development with confidence in themselves and an excitement for continued learning.

My objective is to model respect, patience and care for the children as well as making my program a developmentally appropriate, child-centered atmosphere where they have the opportunity to master new challenges through activities and topics that are meaningful to them, while building their self-esteem as they develop and learn.

I have worked with my mother, who for the last 15 years, has ran “Trisha’s TLC Infant care” out of our family home, and during that time I was able to have hands on experience working with infants and toddlers, while developing a passion for learning and growing with them while supporting their unique and individual needs. I eventually opened my own program in the summer of 2023. I love to cook for the children, when they are ready to start incorporating solids, delicious, healthy, whole and nutritious foods into their diet. I have taken preventative health and safety classes, I am a certified mandated reporter, completed 2 ½ years of Early Childhood Education at our Santa Barbara City College as well as Infant CPR/FIRST AID/AED certified, which I refresh annually.

I believe in having a routine during the day and have found that children feel safe and secure when knowing what to expect next. A normal day usually includes having a nutritious morning breakfast together, going out for a morning walk, mid-morning nap, lunch, floor play, read, learn, music, explore outdoors, hands on activities and an afternoon walk. After the afternoon nap, we are getting cleaned up, having a healthy snack and getting prepared for pick up.

I encourage an open-door policy and believe and support a close relationship with my families, working together so we can provide the best experience possible for you and your child. These years are very special, and I am honored to be apart of them! I welcome you and your child into my home, my family and my childcare program!

Best Regards,
Tara Powell

Name- Tara Powell License Number- 426216609 Capacity- 4 Children (4:1 Ratio) Ages Served- 6 Months- 3 Years (flexible on younger ages) Hours- Monday-Thursday, 7:45 AM-4:30 PM, Closed on Fridays.
