When I began looking for a day care for Hana she was 13 months old and I was scared to death. I remember touring your home admiring your pristinely clean play areas and watching your gentle way with the children and knowing that this was a place I could leave my baby. To the uninformed eye, TLC may look like nothing more than children playing outside, as children always have. But playing in our Outdoor Classroom(ODC) means something much deeper, it is a return to a very old thing: child-centered learning. TLC embraces outdoor, child-initiated play as critical to children’s well-being. Young learners can immerse themselves in nature, hone observation skills, practice persistence and cooperation, develop academic concepts and physical skills and learn problem solving skills and, of course\u2014play and have fun. TLC nurtures growth and learning for the whole child. The children learn by supporting their physical, social and emotional growth, as well as growth across the curriculum: math, science, language and literacy, social studies, art, music and drama. Being responsive to a\u00a0 child\u2019s needs to foster a positive sense of self, sense of security and well being, plenty of hugs and cuddles throughout the day and provide tender love and care, so all children can feel home\u2026away from home. –Sarah Brewer<\/em><\/p>\n\n
